    Description

    1812 stampless cover/letter from Greenfield, MA (in Franklin County) to Oxford, MA (in Worcester County).  The letter has been folded upon itself to form a cover for mailing purposes.
    The letter is marked with Greenfield and dated February 2, 1812.
    At the left of the cover, it shows a black-ink handstamp reading "Greenfield, Ms." and handwritten notation
    reading "Feb. 4" with a handwritten "10" at top right, which is presumably when and from where it was sent, as well as the delivery fee.
    As to content, it is a personal letter.  It was written to the sender's brother, and in it, he fills his brother in on his health and that of family.  He also mentions that a couple of farms in the area are available, so he should let him know if he is interested in purchasing or renting one of them.  He passes on good wishes in closing.
    The cover is in excellent, clean condition, with just a very small amount of page separation along a couple of the folds (to one of which someone added a bit of tape at some point).  It is a great item, given its great age.  It is a Very Fine piece ready to enhance any collection of early American postal history, particularly of Massachusetts, Franklin County, or Worcester County.
