Description
1940 airmail cover from Wyandotte, MI, USA to Gorlitz, Germany. As it was sent after the start of World War II (WWII), it is not surprising that it was opened by German military censors; consequently, on the reverse, it is marked with German military seals, and it was resealed with censor tape. The cover hasa cancellation reading July 2, 1940 (Wyandotte, Mich.), and it is marked with "Via Air Mail
" and a "Par Avion/By Air Mail" sticker.
It is
franked using one 30c (Scott #C24) stamp. The cover is in excellent, clean condition. I
t is a Very Fine piece ready to enhance any collection of U.S. or WWII-era postal history.
