See Photos.  Comes from a non smoking home.  In good+++ condition.  In original frame.  AKA yard long panorama panoramic photograph.  Picture was taken in September of 1916 while the First Battle of the Somme raged in Europe.  Camp Borden (just north of Toronto) opened on 11 July 1916 as a training area for the infantry battalions for the Canadian Expeditionary Force. It is located in Simcoe County.  Prince Arthur, Duke of Connaught, served as the Canadian Governor General and Commander-in-Chief during this period.  We plan to remove the glass prior to shipment.  Approx 52" x  9.25".  1140 Blakemore Studio Toronto.  Seller Lot #20005.
The first occupants of the camp, the 157th (Simcoe Foresters) Infantry Battalion, under command of Lieut-Col. D. H. MacLaren, and 177th (Simcoe Foresters) Infantry Battalion, under command of Lieut-Col. J. B. McPhee. Both Battalions, part of the Canadian Expeditionary Force, were housed in bell tents, as there were no barracks at the time.  These tents can be seen in the background.
