Chinese Bronze Pot Or Urn & Lid — Classic Antique Style With Heavy Oxidation V

For sale is this beautiful antique Chinese copper vessel. I am not quite sure what this might have been used for. I have owned similar pieces in my collection before, and have seen more similar pieces on the market recently. I have been told that pieces like this were often used for oils, ginger, sauces, alcohol, and other food service related use. Others have told me that they are believed to have been used in ritual use for instance and other related uses. Overall, I am not sure what purpose they served, or how old it might be. It is made of a heavily oxidized Bronze or bronze-like metal, and shaped in a classic Asian design. The patina/oxidation is remarkably consistent, which makes me question if its natural or not. It is possible that this was stored in a heavy oxygen environment like under water or in a moist place like a cave. Or it might have been oxidized intentionally as a display piece. It is relatively in tact however, with much of its fidelity. I am not sure of this pieces age, and so am choosing to sell it as is with no guarantees on age. I believe it to be an antique, however cannot test to predict its exact age, so am instead selling it as is for research purposes with no promises on age. it would be a perfect piece for someone to conduct further research on, I am sure there is a good story behind it. Also, this piece would look beautiful on display, as a conversation piece, for a teaching tool, or a great addition to any collection! Don’t pass it up!
