    CIVIL WAR Prisoner of War 1864 Cover from JOHNSON'S ISLAND PRISON with black dcds SANDUSKY / O. / SEP 17 / '64.  The dcds and target cancel ties Scott 65 3c. Outgoing mail addressed to Mary H. Wallace, Care of A. Wallace Esq., New Albany, Indiana.
    JOHNSON'S ISLAND is located on Lake Erie offshore from the City of Sandusky, Ohio.
    Examined marking is in manuscript "Ex G.S.B." which identifies the Examiner as Corporal George S. Brown. Corporal Brown was in service May 16, 1864 thru September 28, 1864..
    CONDITION: Very good. Clear dcds. Stamp is F/VF. Neatly opened at the flap. No tears, splits nor nicks. Sound cover with minimal soiling on front. . Beautiful hand writing. Good SHOW EXHIBIT.
