    Fort Delaware was located on Pea Patch Island in the Delaware River near Delaware City, Delaware.
    Examined marking is of Type I of the Oval Handstamps of PRISONER'S LETTER ~ EXAMINED ~ FORT DELAWARE ~ DEL. with no replaceable initials nor names of examiners.
