    Description

Offered for your consideration is one (1) vintage
    Polk Audio
    SL1000
1 inch Moving Coil High Frequency Radiator
removed from my Monitor 10B speakers, USA-manufactured in 1984.  The SL1000 replaced the prior Peerless-made dome tweeter, of the same essential design, in the Model 10 and possibly other Polk speakers from the early-to-mid 1980’s.  This tweeter bears a 1988 production date sticker; it was a warranty replacement in the 10B speakers.
So, please have a look at the large photos I’ve taken and read the remaining description to decide if this splendid, hard-to-find high frequency driver should be yours.
This Polk SL1000 tweeter is in clean, excellent condition.  The radiating surface is in perfect shape with no dents or dimples.  Plus, there are no scratches on the brushed metal faceplate or any noteworthy oxidation on the large magnet structure (or even the magnet retention screws which are typically brown with rust).  And, the +/- terminals are keyed for polarity (red gasket = positive) and have never been soldered on the spades.  Overall, this Polk high frequency driver is remarkably well-preserved.
More importantly, it’s been fully tested and sounds fantastic—extremely clear and detailed with plenty of beyond-audibility “sparkle” with its impressive 26kHz rating.  It’s a sturdy design as well, rated to 250W maximum input power as crossed-over in the Monitor 10B.  Also, DC resistance tested at 6.6Ω, consistent with its 8 ohm nominal driver rating.  Lastly, the faceplate measures 4½” horizontal / 3½” vertical, it stands roughly 1⅜” tall (incl. the dome), and the mounting holes are spaced 3⅞” longer way/ 2 5/16” shorter way apart, c-t-c.
This is a super find for someone that has blown or damaged dome tweeter in their early-to-mid 1980’s Polk Monitor 10, or other suitable speaker.  Or, it’s a wise spare to have on hand since they’re long-discontinued.
As pictured and described, this superb Polk Audio SL1000 dome tweeter is offered at a competitive price.
