    Description

Vintage original 11x14 in. U.S. lobby card, fine+ condition.
    The silent film melodrama
    POPPY
, which was based upon the famous play by Ben Teal and John P. Ritter, was released in 1917 by Selznick Pictures (Lewis J. Selznick Enterprises) and
    directed by Clarence Brown
and stars Silent Era superstar Norma Talmadge in the title role of Poppy Destinn, a mistreated orphan.
The image features an exterior long shot of Luce Abinger (
    Frederick Perry
) holding an unconscious Poppy (
    Norma Talmadge
) as two African-American men and one woman watch along with a large dog. This vintage original lobby card is unrestored in fine condition with a 0.75 in. diagonal chip on the top right corner and light signs of wear on the tip of the top left corner. The beautiful color tints are extremely fresh and vibrant without any signs of fading.
The market for vintage original African-American motion picture
    memorabilia
has expanded to major institutional collections, such as university libraries and others, and has garnered the interest and respect that it deserves.
